Common questions, honest answers.

What size battery generator setup do I need for my event?

It depends on what you're powering and for how long, not on guest count. A few realistic examples:

  • Backyard birthday or garden ceremony with string lights, a DJ rig, and phone charging → Standard (1 inverter + 1 battery) easily covers the day.
  • Small wedding with DJ, lighting, espresso, warmers, and a small fridge → Standard for a 4-5 hour reception, Premium if it's longer or you want comfortable margin.
  • Food truck or coffee cart running all day → Standard if loads are light (refrigeration + POS + LED lights); Premium if you have heavier draws like induction burners or panini presses cycling often.
  • Long-runtime event (low-to-moderate load but lasts 8+ hours, or you just want big margin) → Premium (1 inverter + 3 batteries, ~18 kWh — 3× the runtime of Standard).
  • Multi-day event on a single rental → Premium for the extra stored energy.

We size based on your actual equipment list, not a guess. Send us what you're powering and we'll spec it.

What's the largest event Silent Power Co. can power on battery alone?

Our maximum deployable configuration is 1 inverter + 3 batteries (~18 kWh stored, 7,200W continuous output — all on a single wheeled cart). In practical terms, that means we can comfortably handle:

  • An all-day event drawing ~1,500W on average (~12 hours of runtime)
  • A moderate-load event running 8–10 hours with comfortable margin
  • A low-load multi-day event on a single rental (~40+ hours at 400W average draw)

That covers most intimate weddings, backyard parties, garden ceremonies, food trucks, small markets, and small block parties — anything where total simultaneous draw stays under 7,200W. We're not built for events that need more than 7,200W of simultaneous draw (heavy commercial cooking, large stage rigs) or for large multi-vendor events (expos, festivals with dozens of separate booths). If your event exceeds what we can deliver, we'll tell you upfront and refer you to a larger-scale provider.

How long does the battery last on a Silent Power generator?

It scales with the load you put on it. Some realistic examples for our Standard package (1 inverter + 1 battery, ~6 kWh stored):

  • Light setup (string lights, phone charging, small Bluetooth speaker — ~150W average) → roughly 40 hours. Multi-day events.
  • Backyard party (DJ, lights, a couple of warmers — ~600W average) → roughly 10 hours. A full day with margin.
  • Heavier event (DJ, lights, espresso machine cycling on/off, mini fridge, food warmer — ~1,200W average) → roughly 5 hours.
  • Food truck with electric cooking (~2,500W average) → roughly 2.5 hours before we'd suggest going Premium.

For longer events, our Premium config (1 inverter + 3 batteries on a single cart) gives you about 3× the runtime on the same load — ~18 kWh stored at the same 7,200W continuous output. And unlike gas generators, you never need to refuel mid-event.

Are battery generators really silent?

Yes. Battery generators have no engine, so they emit zero engine noise during operation. You can hold a normal conversation standing right next to the unit. Compare that to gas generators which run at 65–85 dB — about as loud as a vacuum cleaner.

Do you deliver and set up the generator?

Yes. Every rental includes white-glove delivery, on-site setup, and same-day pickup at the end of your event. We arrive fully charged, position the unit where you want it, and walk you through the ground power center so you know exactly where to plug in. You don't lift a finger.

What's your service area?

We serve Washington, DC, the Maryland suburbs (Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Hyattsville, College Park, Rockville, Kensington), and Northern Virginia (Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, McLean). Standard delivery is within a 20-mile radius of Chevy Chase, DC (20015). Outside that zone? We can usually still help — just add a small delivery surcharge for the extra distance.

How much does a battery generator rental cost?

Every rental includes free delivery, setup, the optional power distribution unit and cords, and same-day pickup — no hauling on your end. Pricing depends on which configuration fits your event. Standard (1 inverter + 1 battery · 7,200W · ~6 kWh stored) covers most small outdoor events at $600/day. Premium (1 inverter + 3 batteries — our max · 7,200W · ~18 kWh stored, 3× the runtime) is $1,000/day. Summer Launch Special: 20% off all bookings through September 30, 2026 — Standard drops to $480, Premium drops to $800. No hidden fees. No payment is collected until we've talked through your needs and you've approved the setup.

What if I pick the wrong package?

You can't, because nothing is locked in until we've talked. Every booking request is reviewed personally — we reach out to walk through your equipment list, runtime, and venue layout, then agree on the right configuration. If your selected package isn't enough, we'll upsize. If it's more than you need, we'll downsize and adjust the price. The package you click on the booking page is a starting point, not a final commitment. You only pay for the setup we agree on.

Can battery generators power food trucks?

Yes for most food truck applications. A single inverter outputs 7,200W continuously, which covers nearly everything you'd plug in:

  • Refrigeration (200–600W, but cycles on/off ~30% of the time)
  • LED lighting (~150W) and POS systems (~50W) — negligible draw
  • Espresso machines (1,200–1,800W peak, but only when actively pulling shots)
  • Panini presses (~1,500W cycling) and single induction burners (~1,800W when on)

For a typical truck or coffee cart, the average draw is usually 800–1,500W even though peak watts look scary. That means our Standard package (~6 kWh) lasts roughly 4–6 hours of active service, and our Premium config (~18 kWh) lasts a full all-day service window. Heavy-draw equipment like industrial deep fryers (4,000–8,000W) or large electric griddles (3,000–5,000W) typically requires Premium plus careful load-staging, or in some cases a small gas backup just for the heaviest piece. Send us your equipment list and we'll spec the right configuration.

What happens if the battery runs out during my event?

It won't, because we plan for it not to. Before we confirm a booking, we walk through your equipment list and event duration, calculate the expected average draw (not the peak — average is what matters for runtime), and pick a config with at least 30% margin on top. So a 6-hour event at ~800W average draw (~4.8 kWh) gets our Standard package (6 kWh), and anything closer to capacity gets sized up to Premium. If your event would exceed even our Premium max (~18 kWh), we'll tell you upfront — we'd rather refer you to a partner with bigger gear than overpromise and run dark mid-event.

How do I get power for my outdoor wedding?

Outdoor weddings without a nearby power outlet need either a generator or a long extension cord run, and for most events a generator is the practical answer. Battery generators (what we rent) are silent and emission-free, so they don't compete with vows, music, or dinner conversation. Gas generators are cheaper but loud and smelly — most outdoor wedding venues either restrict them or position them so far from the event that you lose meaningful power. A typical garden wedding (DJ, string lights, espresso, a couple of warmers, phone charging) averages 600–1,000W of draw, which our Standard package handles for a 5–7 hour reception. For a longer event — late receptions, all-day affairs, or anything where you want comfortable margin — Premium (1 inverter + 3 batteries, ~18 kWh) gives you 3× the runtime at the same 7,200W output. Tell us your venue and what you're powering and we'll size and deliver the right setup.

How do I power a small block party, neighborhood gathering, or community event?

Three options: (1) tap into a building's exterior outlets if a neighbor or local business agrees, (2) rent gas generators for each vendor zone (loud, smelly, often restricted by DC permits), or (3) rent battery power and let us handle the whole event quietly. Our Premium config (1 inverter + 3 batteries — our max, ~18 kWh at 7,200W continuous) is a good fit for a typical small block party: 50–100 attendees, a small sound stage, a handful of vendor stalls with lights and charging, and one or two carts with light food prep. That kind of event usually averages 1,500–2,500W of draw (well within our single-inverter output), which gives you 7–12 hours of runtime on Premium. We do not handle larger street festivals, multi-stage productions, or events whose simultaneous draw exceeds 7,200W — for those, we'll refer you to a larger-scale provider.

Are generators allowed in DC parks?

It depends on the park and the permit. Most DC neighborhood parks (managed by DPR) require an event permit for gatherings of 10+ people, and many restrict fuel generators because of noise and emissions rules. Federal sites managed by the National Park Service (the National Mall, Anacostia Park, Rock Creek Park, the Lincoln Memorial area) have stricter generator rules — battery power is almost always permitted where gas generators aren't. Yards Park and other privately-managed spaces have their own rules. Battery generators sidestep most of these restrictions.

Can I rent a quiet generator instead of a noisy gas one?

Yes — that's exactly what we rent. Our EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra battery generators have no engine, so they emit zero noise during operation. You can stand directly next to one and hold a normal conversation. Compare that to standard gas generators which run at 65–85 dB (vacuum-cleaner loud). For weddings, ceremonies, podcasts, video shoots, dinner parties, or anywhere you don't want to hear the power source, battery is the only true quiet option. Read the full comparison →

How do I get power for my backyard party or home event?

Most homes have enough outlet capacity for a small backyard gathering, but a real party — DJ, lighting, food warmers, espresso, blender bar, charging stations — quickly exceeds what a typical 15-amp household circuit (~1,800W) can deliver without tripping breakers. A single DELTA Pro Ultra inverter outputs 7,200W continuously — roughly 4× what one household circuit gives you — so it handles the party without popping breakers mid-toast and without running gas generators close to the house (a real fire and CO risk). A typical backyard party averages 400–800W, so our Standard package (~6 kWh) easily runs an 8+ hour event with margin. We deliver, set up, plug in, and pick up after.

My venue requires a Certificate of Insurance — can you provide one?

Yes — a Certificate of Insurance (COI) is available on request. Let us know your venue's name and any specific COI requirements when you book and we'll send one over.
